Her parents are working on arranging a marriage for her to a respectable pureblood boy, as fits her stature and class among Wizarding society. She is pretending to go along with their plan while secretly making plans of her own. Once she's done with school they will no longer have any control over her, and she only needs to make it that far. She's secretly dating Muggle-born wizard Ted Tonks (an offense that would get her sent to Durmstrang if it was discovered), and after she finishes school she intends to run off and get a job in the Ministry's Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. (and also marry Ted, if he ever gets around to asking her). She takes great pains to keep these plans from her family and her fellow students (or at least the fellow students that would tell her family about them), particularly the part about Ted.
